Understudy Privacy Policy

The short version
Your prop scenes and scripts stay on your device. Glint sends limited, pseudonymous usage, room-check outcome, purchase, and reliability events to our own service by default. There is no in-app switch to turn this off. Stored events do not expire automatically.
Information we collect
Your contact names, scripted messages, photos, wallpapers, and videos stay on your device. Understudy sends event names and outcomes to our analytics service by default; there is no in-app setting to turn this off. Examples include onboarding steps, purchase and restore outcomes, setup actions, prop screens shown, and time spent using a prop screen. Events include a random installation ID, random session and event IDs, the app and iOS versions, timestamps, short durations, fixed categories, and the StoreKit product ID. We do not send contact names, message or thread text, photos, wallpapers, videos, payment details, receipts, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
The installation ID links events from the same app installation. It is pseudonymous, not fully anonymous. The service receives the IP address needed to handle a request; short-lived hashed address data helps limit abuse. We do not use this data for advertising or cross-app tracking.
How Understudy uses device permissions
Understudy asks for the following permissions only to perform its function. Any data accessed through these permissions is processed on your device and is not transmitted to Ginsberg AI LLC or any third party.
- Photo Library (Picker) — used to let you choose wallpapers, contact photos, and videos for your prop scenes; selection happens in Apple's out-of-process picker and the files stay on your device.
Subscriptions & payments
Understudy offers in-app purchases. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Third-party services
Understudy uses our own analytics collector, hosted by Cloudflare, with the analytics database hosted by Neon, rather than a third-party analytics SDK. Apple handles app delivery, in-app purchases. We do not share usage events with advertisers or data brokers.
Data retention
Your contact names, scripted messages, photos, wallpapers, and videos remain on your device. Received analytics events do not expire automatically. We may delete them manually. Deleting the app removes its installation ID from your device and stops new events from that installation; reinstalling starts with a new ID.
Children's privacy
Understudy is not directed to children under 13. We do not use usage events to advertise to or profile children.
Your rights
Usage events are tied to a random installation ID, not to your name, email address, or an account. Glint does not show you that ID, so we may be unable to find one person's records from a name or email address alone. You can ask about access or manual deletion at privacy@ginsberg.ai.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
